The Satipatthana Sutta, on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, is one of the Buddha’s most rich and detailed sets of meditation instructions. Its purpose is to show us how to contemplate in order to open to Nirvana – liberation from the world of ignorance, attachment and suffering.
Through his book, Satipatthana Meditation: A Practice Guide, Bikkhu Analayo will be our guide as we explore the practices and perspectives laid out in the sutta. The course consists of twice monthly group meetings for meditation, Dharma talks, discussion, and small group activities. (And social time, laughter and fun!) Each month there will also be a homework assignment including readings from Analayo’s book and other sources, recorded Dharma talks, as well as meditation and daily life practices to help integrate the teachings into our daily lives.
